Ghostscript 9.50 Release Notice

Artifex is pleased to announce the release of Ghostscript 9.50. Originally slated as version 9.28, the change to version 9.50 is in recognition of the extent and importance of the file access control redesign/reimplementation work that went into this release.

Highlights for Release

The Artifex developers have been working diligently over the past year on this significant Ghostscript release. As promised, we have implemented additional security measures, including making SAFER the default mode of operation.
Detailed information for this release and more can be found in the release notes for version 9.50.

• The file access control capability, enabled with “-dSAFER” has been completely redesigned.
• “-dSAFER” now only enables the file access controls, and no longer applies restrictions to standard Postscript functionality.
• File access controls are now enabled by default.
• The usual round of bug fixes, compatibility changes, and incremental improvements.
